What is SSD? Why use SSD! Advantages-disadvantages are detailed

SSD is the full form of an English word Solid State Drive or Storage Device. SSD is a type of hardware. Whose job is to temporarily or permanently store information on the computer.

What is SSD?

SSD is a flash memory device. SSD’s data retrieval speed and capacity are enormous compared to the typical Hardix used in computers. Data is stored in a NAND flash memory chip attached to the SSD. Flash controller controls NAND flash memory chip. Flash controller reads and writes SSD data. SSD has a controller to read and write information so any information can be found very easily.

Types of SSD: Although there are many types of SSDs in the market, these two types of SSDs are usually widely used

1-SATA: SATA SSD is typically hardware for systems that use multiple storage drives.

2- NVMe: NVMe SSDs are basically high-speed memory just like RAM. This SSD also comes with 1GB per second speed for file transfer. These SSDs are more powerful in terms of functionality and file transfer than SATA SSDs.
This is why the demand for NVMe SD is high.

Why use SSD?
1: The battery life of laptops is much longer than before due to the need for less power supply in SSD.
1: SSD can be used to reduce the pressure on the hard disk. Using SSD makes the PC relatively more dynamic.
2: SSD is used for fast file transfer.
3: SSD is used to use high configuration applications without lag.
4: Using SSD to make a gaming PC is almost an essential tool.

Advantages of using SSD: File transfer speed from ASD to ASD is 5 times faster than the file transfer speed from one hard disk to another. In other words, ASD – 5 times stronger than the hard disk. File transfer speed from SSD to SSD is 400-600 MB (MB) per second. On the other hand, the file transfer speed from hard disk to hard disk is 100-150 MB (MB) per second.

Disadvantages of using SSD: The main and only disadvantage of using SSD is its short lifespan. SSDs last much less than hard disks. If a hard disk is used for an average of 10 years, an SSD can be used for a maximum of 4 years.
SSD is available in the market for a minimum of Rs 2,000. However, good quality and good price are important in considering the average life expectancy of SSD. As the value increases with the price, so does the life expectancy.

To extend the life of SSD drives:

1. The amount of data right in SSD is fixed. Large files should be kept on the hard drive instead of on the SSD as this reduces the amount of data rights. The lower the amount of data rights, the longer the lifespan of the SSD.
2. Refrain from using older windows (Windows 7 and earlier). This is because when any data is deleted on the hard drive, only the address is deleted in the Windows command but the file remains there until the new file is written. Repeatedly writing new files shortens the life of SSD.
